Each Friday, discover the artistic selection of the JCE Biennial 2011/2013, country by country. This week: the German selection.
For this new edition, the Biennale JCE welcomes a new partner: the city of Hamburg in Germany.
8 artists were selected by the director of the Kunsthaus Hamburg, Claus Mewes and the Curator Goesta Diercks to represent the young German selection.
In order to get the panel the most representative and most qualitative of the German current scene they made their selection from the award-winning contemporary art in the country:
- City of Hamburg Scholarship for Fine Arts,
- Hiscox Art Price, Price for photography by the Patriotische Gesellschaft Hamburg,
- Jugend kulturell HypoVereinsbank/Unicreditgroup, Index (young art market).
The chosen artist’s artworks are based on the conditions of the creation and production of art in networking, reflection on media, aesthetic revision of the tradition of signs, autonomous gestures and structures of organisation in public space.
