The Biennale JCE Montrouge at the Factory

September 26> October 25, 2009

On September 25th, 1300 visitors – including Minister responsible for the implementation of the Recovery Plan- responded to the invitation of the Mayor of Montrouge, Jean-Loup Metton to inaugurate the biennial Jeune Creation Européenne, second edition. An audience of young contemporary art scene and international art professionals has discovered the factory new avenues explored by 90 contemporary artists in 9 European countries.

JCE Grand Prix 2009: place of honnor to Hungary

The 9 commissioners of the Biennale have delivered on this occasion the Grand Jury Prize at JCE 2009 a group of Hungarian artists: Janos Milhaly Hubler, Marta Racz, Tamas Szentirmai Janos Vagi, for their work “Growing Structures, The Metamorphoses of the Material”. Produced specially for the Biennale, this facility that imprisons books in concrete is symptomatic of the anxieties felt by artists in the current context.

The Biennale JCE (Jeune Création Européenne) is:

• 9 countries: Austria, Spain, France, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal and Slovakia.

• 9 commissioners in direct contact with the young contemporary creation

• 90 emerging artists who make their first steps on the international stage
