The Prize is awarded for each edition of JCE to the best work of the ensemble of selections presented.The winner is allowed to present a personal exhibition of five of his works at the next Biennial and, during the JCE, he/she is a guest of the Residency program.
In May 2008, the four artists bound hundreds of books deemed disposable in concrete in the 120 square meter space of Centrális Galéria in Budapest. With this gesture, the books that were claimed by no one and were nothing more than valueless relics of the Communist past were stripped of their fundamental utility of being read. They stand as a fossilised warning of their own indelible existence even without being used, of the corollary of the history within and of the changes universal principles go through from time to time.
